Getting started

Yoga is not a work-out. It is a work-in. Every movement is a meditation on one self observing your body, in and out. It is rooted in classical hatha yoga, where focus is on complete well being of body mind and consciousness. You will leave the class as a much more serene and contented person. Each class is 60 minutes long, and includes pranayama (proper breathing) and deep relaxation.

GROUP CLASS

Each student of the group class will be added to my private WhatsApp group so we will have a place to communicate everything related to the class.  I will post what props are needed for each class and what you can substitute them with.

I request each of you to be on time, test your connections at least 10 minutes before the class so you will not lose the precious set up time.

PRIVATE CLASS

Before you and I start the class, I would request you to fill in the new student form so I will have enough background to know how to tailor the class for you and what questions to ask at our first class.  At your first class with me, we will get acquainted with each other, to learn your specific situation and evaluate how we can modify the practice for you.   This initial time will ensure that we take the right steps towards your healing path.

The class is 1 hour and 15 minutes and will include breathing exercises (pranayama), asanas, and deep relaxation. Learning to breathe the right way is critical for our physical and mental health. A strong emphasis is placed on meditative attitude to the movements, a chance to check in with yourself, and bring your mind to your body.

What to expect

If you are new to yoga, it will take a few classes for you to get used to the instructions.

If you have done yoga before, all you need to do is to get used to my style of teaching and you are good to go.

Here are some hints to get the most out of the classes:

IN PERSON CLASSES:

  • Bring your yoga mat and water bottle (avoid plastic)

  • Arrive a few minutes early

  • Situate yourself well before the class begins

  • Silence your cell phone

  • Enjoy the class

VIRTUAL CLASSES

  • I strongly encourage you to sign into your device (phone, ipad, laptop etc) at least 10 minutes before the class to rule out any connectivity issues.

  • Test your camera angle before the class; you may have to adjust your camera twice in the class – once for supine (lying or sitting on the floor) poses and once for standing poses; this is especially useful if you would like me to help you with your alignment etc

  • Register for the class early on so you will not waste time just before the class; early registration will also help you with getting reminder emails

Please reach out to me with any questions sooner than later so you can focus on enjoying the class
